I am passionate about the creative arts whether the medium is a book, song, painting, dance, movie — you get the picture.
What I love about the process is it can be shared with others. We all have that favorite picture, song, etc., and it speaks to us. The artist might have had their own thought behind it but we bring our own meaning to it and personalize it.
The medium I have chosen is photography.
I have always used Nikon equipment. I have two Nikon DSLRs, one is converted for infrared. I usually stick to one lens, a zoom, so I don't have to carry much when I shoot.
Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you will explore the story behind my book, Beyond the Veil, and visit the following links where I am always adding new galleries:
I always had a passion for art even when I was a yound child. I recall a time when my parents took me to the home of an artist for painting classes in her basement. It was incredible! While I enjoyed these classes, I never developed a talent for painting.
My interest in photography along with sculpture came to fruition in high school. It was a natural progression for me to follow my passion when I attended college and majored in Art/Education.
I graduated with a B.F.A. in Art Education from Ohio University. I had a wonderful experience teaching art in Australia. When I returned to the states I decided I wanted to further develop my talent and attended The Maryland Institute College of Art where I received my M.F.A. After receiving my degree, I worked in the photography field for about 10 years.
I spent the next 30 years in the teaching field mainly with those challenged with Autism. There were other professional paths I took at the same time and each enriched my experiences and outlook on life. Most of my creative energies focused, mainly, on my teaching career, and filming. I developed a talent for filming and editing that resulted in creating DVD's for a nonprofit organization and annual movies for the school I was assigned to. The filming also resulted in my involvement as Director for a television show that was aired weekly on the public access station on cable.
At that poingt in time, my life was full and meaningful, but I had no idea how it would change after my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. To find out more about how my world changed visit: Beyond the Veil
